Mother's Day (early)

So a few days ago when I had a spare 5 minutes I actually threw together this card for Mother's Day.  I know it's a bit early and I didn't plan for it to be that way but after I had finished and it was time for a sentiment I just thought it would work.
The butterflies are actually mirrors that I bought at the dollar store, the paper I'm not sure and the cardstock, of course, Bazzill.  Yes the base is black, but honestly, I think it actually all works well together.  Let me know what you think.

Cheers,

Hez

Chase the Rainbow

Well another week gone by and here I am sitting on the couch absolutely drained of any energy.  Boy, am I ever glad I got a least one day of scrapping in this weekend.  I went to my sister's yesterday and we sent the men away to go ice fishing.  They took the youngest, Zach, and left Xander with us as he was still sick and not having a good day.  This is the second layout I ended up making yesterday using the new Wings line from CTMH.  I never would have thought I would be able to make a layout like this with that line but this is the backside of a few of the papers and I love the way it turned out.  I actually outright copied it from the CTMH idea book but I just couldn't not!  I absolutely love it.  I did turn it sideways to fit the picture I had already printed out.  Do you love it as much as me??

I just put an order in for some new Stampin Up! stuff before Sale-A-Bration was over so I can't wait to get it and I'll be showing off some new stamp sets!!
For now I'm content to doze on the couch and hope this cold goes away because I won't make it to work tomorrow if I still feel like this.

So long for now,

Hez

Family is Forever

Good day my stampin' buddies!
I loved this picture of my sister's family so much I wanted a really special layout to showcase it.  I had seem similar layout to this in the newest CARDS magazine so I thought the hearts masked would be perfect since I'm on such a kick using my smooch spritz lately.
I've seem so many of the pennants lately I figured maybe it was my turn to have a go at it.  I went with the blue background and DP because of the boys shirts in the photo and I thought the hearts were perfect to match Liz's shirt.  Everything seemed to just come together and I'm really happy with it.  I used stickles around the hearts just to add a little something to make them stand out.
What do you think? Is the layout worthy of the picture?
I'm teaching a friend tomorrow how to get into cardmaking.  Not sure how good of a teacher I'll be...lol  Hopefully I can explain things well enough that it's enjoyable.  It's just one of those things you have to find your groove I guess.
Well, maybe I'll be back tomorrow but I'm thinking more like Tuesday to show you all my creations.

Have a good night everyone!

Family

Told ya I'd have another one for you today! And I don't lie about these things, lol.
This is a picture I took last summer when we(me, my BF, my sister and her kids and my mom) went to BC to do some visiting of family.  These two lovely gals are my Aunt and my Grandma.  I didn't have any really good pictures of either of them so I thought this would be a great picture to scrapbook from our journey. They both look very happy and healthy.  It was so joyous to see them, they are very wonderful people and I love having them in my life.  My aunt actually runs her own company, she's a life coach and absolutely amazing at it.  She has such a positive attitude it just rubs off on everyone.  My Nana, while she is getting up there in age, is still a very spry woman and always inspiring to talk to.  I love you both!!

I love the layout of this page and all the crochet trim just gives it that old vintage kind of look, as I said before that I was kind of into right now.  The big pink flower is Prima and the smaller one is actually some crochet trim I bought at the Dollar store and just swirled around on a piece of double sided tape to make a flower.  The brad in the middle I believe is CTMH, but don't quote me on that...lol it's possibly SU!
Not much else to say right now, just working hard, can't you tell ;)

Chat at ya later,

Hez

Fab Friday

Happy Friday everyone, although it's not really Friday for me, I still have two more days before my weekend starts.  So I made this card while ago, I do belive I CASEd this from Renee Vanstralen, Stamping For Sanity.  She has an amazing blog and I absolutely follow it religiously, she is a wonderfully talented lady,  Kudos Renee!!  If you don't know what CASE means, it's copy and and share everything, or copy and selectively edit.
Basically, I copied her layout and changed everything else.  I don't like to copy exactly everything about a card or page, my biggest problem is coming up with my own layout so I tend to "borrow" those from other people.
I really like this card, and the colors.  I don't make too many manly cards but this would definitely work.  I didn't put a sentiment on because I don't know what I'll end up using it for, probably father's day, but I left space underneath the truck to stamp something if needed.
Originally when I got the Stampin Up! catalogue back in July, I just glanced over this stamp set (Countryside), but then I saw what Renee had done with it and HAD TO HAVE IT!!  I like that it works for man stuff and that it's kind of vintagey/antique.  That seems to be a little bit of my thing lately, not sure why.  The grey paper with the polka dots is coredinations cardstock, which is absolutely faahbulous.  I really like sanding it and revealing the core, it's just so easy.  I don't know if you can tell but I dry embossed lines on the orange background carstock, it just seemed too plain on it's own.

Anyways, I do have more to show you so I'll stop back later with another card, or maybe a scrapbook page, I've been a busy bee lately!

Have a fab Friday,

Hez

Hello World!

Hey my wonderful blog friends!  I can't believe it has been almost a week since I've posted anything.  I knew this would happen though, I tend to always start out great with something and then lose interest or not be able to find the time.  In this case it's a matter of not finding the time because I have definitely not lost interest yet.

So I had a good weekend, how about you??  I took my first real crack at sledding(snowmobiling) at the in-laws place on Saturday.  It was alright but I had a helmet that didn't fit and it got frustrating trying to drive while constantly pushing it back up on my head.  I got'er stuck a few time(apparently I need to learn how to "carve") and got 'er un-stuck a few times with a little help from Wes.  It's a good thing they don't weigh too much, lol, or we would've been there all day.  As it was we didn't have a whole lot of fuel(because someone didn't think about that) so we couldn't go very far.  Final verdict: I would do it again, in the same weather, as long as I had my own helmet and maybe a little more gas.  Oh and definitely not on the side of the road so I'm sitting on an angle the whole time trying to hold it straight.

But enough about my sledding adventures, I spent a little time crafting on Sunday, after toboganning with my sister and nephews and this is what I came out with.  Another layout about my eldest nephew, Xander, and yes it may only seem like I have one, but in actuality I do have 2 nephews.  And I will do my best to pop out a layout about my other wonderful little neph, Zach.
I just love this picture my sister took back in the fall.  It looks to me like he is embracing the world and that's Xander.  He is the hugger of the family, I don't even have to ask most of the time for a hug when he's around, whether I'm coming or going, I'm getting a hug.  In case you can't read it, the title says "Hello World!"
I'm hoping to be back tomorrow or even later tonight with another post.
Until then blogger friends,
Enjoy your Valentine's Day!!

Much love frrom this corner of the world,

Hez

Catching up

So, my sister lent me her computer so I could catch up on all the pictures I lost when I lost my camera.  And so, being on wonderful days off I decided to do a little scrapping, after I caught up on some much needed cleaning.  I spent about 2 hours yesterday with my new february release of Scrapbook Trends Magazine and my computer picking out layouts and printing out appropriate pictures.  Once that was done I went to bed and figured I'd start fresh today.  Woke up this morning pumped aboutgetting at it...and of course only got 2 pages done.  Buuuut that's two more than I had before ;)
The top one is my sister and her husband and well, that shows him perfectly.  He's such a goof sometimes it makes everyone smile, especially my sister.  It's nice to see them happy together.
The bottom layout is my eldest nephew.  He's so rambunctious and full of life as the page says.  His smile is infectious, kind of reminds me of myself.  Both boys have inherited my smile, nice to know there's a little part of me in there :)
I love that top layout for the colors, the buttons on the left are all sparkly with glitter in them.  Gotta have my bling ;)  And I love the bottom layouts just for the pictures and the fact that I used lots of rub-ons(which was this weeks self-challenge).  I'm thinking I will try and keep up with the Colour-Q challenges, I see a new one came out today so tomorrow when I get home(if it's at a decent time) I will try to play along and link up my post.  Thanks to Renee for introducing me to this.  I would like to try the Inkspirations challenge too but we'll take baby steps.
I think now I'm droning and it's time for bed. so have a good night everyone! and have an Excellen day tomorrow!!

V-Day Cards

I whipped these gorgeous little guys up on my last set of days off.  Still trying to find the perfect card for my man for Valentine's Day, I think I tried about 6 different cards until I realized I needed something different than just a regular, plain old, square-cornered kind of card.
So I brought out the Spellbinders, which I've barely used but "Had to Have" lol, and I cut out the base from the scalloped hearts, making sure to leave one edge still attached.  I then cut out the layer on top frrom the hearts spellbinders set and ran it through my cuttlebug and dry embossed(for the white one and the pink one I used swiss dots and for the black one I used a heart folder, can't remember the company, but will find out if anyone wants to know).  I used my smooch spritz on the little hearts behind the flowers, LOOVE that stuff now that I've figured out how to use it best!!  Whipped up a couple bows depending on what color went with the card, a little bit of lace on the pink, some crochet trim (SU!) for the white one and some silver wired ribbon for the black one. Added a little bling(my trademark) and used my hot glue gun to attach the ribbon and the flowers on top.
What do ya think?? I am in love!! Definitely some of my better work
Have an awesome day, because I'm sure I won't(being at work and all)

Cheers, Hez

and P.S. I picked the pink one to give to him ;) Good thing he doesn't read my blog because he hasn't seen it yet...lol

Cut Me Some Slack

So I`m going to try this for the first time, I want to post a card for you.  I hope I can get this right.  I`ve been on a kick of making Valentine`s cards lately and then I got my new stuff from CTMH(Close To My Heart) and I was so excited about it!! I`m trying out this new rule for myself this year.  Every time I buy a new stamp set I have to use it twice before I put it away(not that I can`t use it more) but at least this way I ink it up a couple times.
So I badly wanted to use this butterfly stamp I just needed an idea for it.  I like the sayings that came with the set.  Cutting out the butterflies was a bit tedious but worth it in the end.  One thing you'll learn about me is that I love love to use bling on almost everything I make.  This is a fairly simple card.  I guess it depends on my mood what I'm in(I made this late at night on a Sunday) how complex the cards are.  It was pretty basic.
1. Glue the DP to the base DP=designer paper)
2. Die cut the top note and glue on top of the DP
3. Stamp and cut out three different colours of the butterfly.
4.Glue the butterflies on the base
5. Place the bling underneath the bottom butterfly
6. Punch out the sentiment background and stanp the sentiment on top
7. Glue the sentiment to the card and apply pearls

Supplies used:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics, Stamps: CTMH, Bling: Kaisercraft, Zva Creative, Punch: Stampin Up!
